Abstract
Generally Dyak people are multilingual people. They master Dyak, Banjar Language and Indonesian. Half of their educated people master English as foreign language. This language situation triggers the language sustainability and language shift. The data analysis is conducted by the use of quantitative method. Data is collected by the use of questioner which is arranged with speech component as the basis. Data analysis has found that Dyak is strongly used for informal situation when the addressee is from the same ethnic. When the situation is formal, for instance for writing a letter and in campus situation, the use of Dyak is decreasing. In campus, Dyak is competing with Banjar language, especially when the addresser is from the same ethnic with the addressee. Meanwhile, when the addresser is talking to addressee with different ethnic, Dyak language is shifted by the use of Indonesian and Banjar Language.
