Abstract

This article discribes terms used in the process of batik fabrication by batik craftmen in Pekalongan. Data is obtained from informen who get involved in batik community which comprise the batik craftmen, batik handyman, the owner of batik home industry, and some informen from common people in Pekalongan. Methods applied are listening and speaking. Analisis is carried out by the use of referential match method. Terms used in the procces of batik fabrication are classified based on the aspects of batik fabrication. Analysis of the data leads to a conclusion that terms in the process of producing batik could be classified into five groups. That is classification based on tools, the sort of batik handymen, batik dye, and the fabric for batik.
